Honey Bees - Part Two!

And after teaching at the Apiary - HW has to attend to her own girls... so not wanting to waste an opportunity to stick my head in another hive I put the suit back on!

Epsom Bee Keepers.......

I had the great fortune to be able to photograph at Epsom Beekeepers on Saturday.  I will state now it was just fabulous ..... I enjoyed every moment - not really any time to get apprehensive about the number of bees I would encounter - the only issue I had, was in my own head, that would I take enough good photographs not embarrass myself when I handed over my stick!!  What do you think?

On most Saturdays during the bee season (summer months) they have classes on how to look after bees. Today was no exception.  An apiary full of teachers and students (who were only a few weeks into their new hobbies). The day was hot, the bees very active, and with so many photo opportunities I didn't know where to point my camera first!  So on the promise to both student and teachers that I would avoid all unflattering photos - ie. bum in air looking into the hive - off we all went!

I know to the professionals looking, all of these photo's can be improved but it's all still so very new - and I will continue to practice hard - I think I may have found a new love with my macro photography!

A massive THANK YOU to HW for arranging and also a massive THANK YOU to all the students and teachers for allowing me to poke my camera in their faces for a couple of hours - and the final THANK YOU of course goes to the honey bees - to whom without you all this photo session would not have happened!!!

Should you need photographs of any more bee things - I would be more than happy to come and play! PS. can't wait for the honey to be extracted - camera battery is charging as we speak (hint hint)!

And last but not least - was it so very wrong that I wanted to lick my camera clean of honey at the end of the day.........
