Photography: Week Eight (Multiple Exposures)

Multiple Exposures - two types -

First - when you appear in the same photo without using multiplication software.

Class Exercise:  Using last weeks technique, stand with a flash light and move your head.

Move from side to side....

Move around....

Second - using software to alter the pictures.

Class Exercise - take three pictures - using the same background, and appropriate camera settings.

In this instant, use Photoshop and 'blend' all three shots!

(D's worse nightmare - three of me, and hopefully the one and only time my photo appears on my blog!!!)

Photography: Week Six (Zoom Burst & Panning)

Zoom Burst:

Take photo, while moving the zoom - in or out - generally 55-18 or 18-55
A style of photography that emulates 'speed effects'

Can be combined with with rear curtain (or 2nd curtain) flash to isolate the main subject.

Achieved by - slightly longer exposure than you would normally use - set up picture for best ISO and then drop ISO by one. Rotate your zoom lens as you take the shot- either in or out.  Generally the subject would be static.

Note: Subject should be in focus - while blurring around.

Class Exercise: 55mm to 18mm Zoom Burst

Rear Curtain Flash:  Switch flash on - set shutter speed to 2nd Curtain using the camera menu

Class Exercise:
Set TV, 1/10 ISO 1600, One Shot
55mm-18mm

18mm-55mm

Panning:

Move camera and not the lens
Always subject in focus - with blurring background
Artistic effect in landscape
Vertically/Horizontally or Spinning motion
Rear curtain can be used again to isolate subject

Landscape: up or down
Spinning: Move camera like a steering wheel

Class Exercise: Spinning,

Panning right to left:
Note: Remember no flash when photography night time cars - will blind the driver - or make him worry that he's got yet another speeding ticket!

Very excited about this weeks homework - one zoom burst and one pan (or spin) - however the limitations of my camera my scupper my efforts!!!
