I cannot believe it's March. I ask this question way too much, but where has the time gone. You may (or actually may not!) remember a few weeks ago, my goal to finish a few projects before the end of March - click here  to view my bags of UFO!

Cheam Camera Club: Panel of Six

CREATE A RAINBOW

Thread

Market Lights

Oil & Water

Pencils

Smoke

Umbrella

A great evening - I love to see a panel of images - I think its says much more about a persons passion than just one image!  So no groups tonight, beginners, intermediate and advanced all mixed together - with approx. 20 ish panels altogether. Down to the last 10 - and then the forth panel to be eliminated before the marking started - with 3 HC, a runner up and a winner - so close yet so far!!!!

Comments for my panel - very creative. liked the panel but felt image 2 (market lights) and especially image 5 (smoke) didn't fit very well.  Thought perhaps my sequence could have been different to show the images better.

I am very happy with the comments - and very happy with sixth place!!

Season Ones panel - here

The ones that got rejected!

A lot of fun!

Mr Bunny and his Blanket

I have been in contact with Sutton Library recently, to ask them to advertise the quilting groups Quilting Exhibition.  I happen to notice a lost bunny on their FB page - and as I really have nothing better to do (lol, understatement of the year!). I made him a little blanket to keep him warm until his owner finds him again!

Hope this made you stop and smile - just for a moment!  Although, I really don't like the look of that gruffalo behind him.

Cheam Camera Club: Colour Print Summary

Soooooo. I finish this season (season two) in the Intermediate Colour Prints Group with a score of 76.5 out of 80. I think I am more surprised than anyone at this result.  I have finished 1st in this group for this type of print.  This means, so I understand, that in September I will move to the Advanced group.  As I felt way out of my depth all season being in this group, I'm not sure how I feel about moving up again so quickly.  One thing I do know, I have pushed myself harder this season to achieve better images and different images.  I have admired and loved viewing the other images within this group and feel all of the other group members are much better than myself.  These are the images I have entered this year.

Lone Poppy: Score 8

Fallen Branches: Score 10

Round 2:

The Milky Way, Wales: Score 10

Lavender : Score 10

Round 3:

Dahlia: Score 10

Woodland Leaves: Score 9.5

Round 4:

Morning Calm: Score 9

Dandelion Head: Score 10

Review Season One

Cheam Camera Club: Colour Print

Our final round in the Colour Prints. Final Round!!!

Morning Calm. Taken the morning after Misty Morning and Out of Season, entered into the mono print and PDI  round a couple of weeks ago. Who would believe this is 24 hours later.  I love nothing more than being on the beach all by myself - especially if it not raining and there is a little colour in the sky! Judges comments: Reflections of the light on the wet sand-good, liked the wet sand. Maybe overdid the slow shutter speed a bit. Questioned if the sky should have been removed. Score: 9

Dandelion Head: A little different than the normal dandelion images I have seen.  I have entered this because it is different.  I have had on my pile of printed images all season and always rejected it. However,  I love the detail in the image.  I'll be interested to see what the judge has to say on how it could be improved.  The improvement I can see are the bright areas of the two steams, near central to the image. Not focused stacked - although I prefer the softness to the outer image. Let see if he agrees. Judges comments: Very much liked the softness round the edges - as the dandelion head should be. Likes the colour throughout - nothing there that shouldn't beScore: 10

Once again really surprised.  I had put the dandelion head at 8 at the best, so really pleased with 10 but mostly surprised!!!  There were several other images in my group last night, that I thought, were much more deserving of a 10 than this one, so once again it just goes to show you, you just don't know what the judge it going to like on the night.

Baby C2C Blanket

Started around November time last year (I think), a small baby blanket in two charity shop balls of wool.  One fleck white and fleck blue with 100g of each.  Having previously made a small blanket using 200g of white wool in the C2C method I thought this would make great use of the wool. However, my calculations were completely off with this one and ended up with no blue left but a fair amount of white.

With a whole corner still to complete.  Frustrating - must remember to weigh all wool before starting a project!!

So having put back in the cupboard for a few weeks until I could decided what to do - should I wait to find more of the same, could I search the internet for an odd ball. I asked the other QQ's in case they had a similar wool. CD offered a similar wool but with a yellow fleck - very nice it was too. In the end I decided to take the blanket back to just before the half point and use plain white to fill the gap!

Ta Dah.....

And instead of making the pile for charity, the blanket found a new home with HT for Baby S. Happiness is a small one wrapped in a home made blanket!
