Bank Holiday in Arundel

One of our favourite places in go when we are at the beach house for a few days is Arundel, about a 10 minute car journey from the bungalow.

Arundel is just beautiful - its has the most amazing castle.... worth a visit if you are near there.

The weather was just fab - lunch out at the Black Rabbit was the only option.  Outside in the sun by the river.....a cold juice for me and a cold beer for D was just what the doctor ordered!!

We found a public footpath to take us back to the town - we would normally walk along the road but decided a footpath would be much better.

And so it was...... you could see the castle from all parts of the path.  We passed signets and swans, we passed cows (with a little hesitation).  We passed many people, some with dogs, and we waved to many little boats enjoying the river.

And after around 30 minutes.... we arrived back where we started.

We had a quick nose round the little town - one shop we always visit is a wonderful second hand book shop - Kims Bookshop you can find all sorts in here. I left D in the transport section while I headed into the craft section. I found nothing I liked so headed into the children's section to look for a book to go along side a quilt I plan to make.  And found these...

I stood for ages reading the spines - so many memories came flooding back.... I always had an Enid Blyton book on the go during the school holidays - Famous Five - think I read all of those, and they were my favourites.

We finished the day with an ice cream and a look round a local art show........ and look what we found....

Did we treat ourselves??  Of course how could we not!!!

Creative Carole's Top Tips for Painting your Fence

Well....  good weather.....a fence feeling sorry for itself...... time for some TLC.

Before:

Tip One: When purchasing one tub of fence paint it is important to remember that the larger proportion, of paint,  should be painted on the fence rather than yourself, it will make the tub go much further.

Tip Two: After several hours of painting, if you need to lean on the fence for support when doing the lower section - its important to remember to lean on the unpainted section rather than the wet section.

Tip Three: When dancing to your IPod in the corner of the garden while painting its important to remember that although you can see no one, the near by houses can view your dancing skills from their bedroom windows.

After:

Off for a bath - with my clothes on!!

Catching up........

Well, it's been some time since my last blog.....if fact they have been few and far between these last few weeks.  It's not that I'm not doing anything, in fact life is as busy as normal.  Most of my time at the moment is spent completing a quilt for my friends up and coming wedding. Time is ticking away. I have put everything on hold this weekend and quilted to within an inch of my life!!

And it was so worth it.... I have completed the quilt top... (would love to show you but you'll have to wait!)

Next week is a bank holiday so hope to draw the quilting pattern and sandwich together - then it's the exciting bit of quilting - to be squeezed in around everything else - as have a very busy June coming up.

Things seem to be moving fast, can't believe it's June in a weeks time.  Spring is still 'springing' fast...

Monday....

Friday....

The weather is all a bit mixed.... the wind mid week caused lots of damage in the park...

The wildlife is  settling down...... this magnificent nest appears in a matter of days....

Trying to be more productive in my lunch hour.... starting a crochet blanket for a charity group....

And finally a gift from a friend ...... a new addition for the BH.   LOvE it..........
