Bank Holiday in Arundel

One of our favourite places in go when we are at the beach house for a few days is Arundel, about a 10 minute car journey from the bungalow.

Arundel is just beautiful - its has the most amazing castle.... worth a visit if you are near there.

The weather was just fab - lunch out at the Black Rabbit was the only option.  Outside in the sun by the river.....a cold juice for me and a cold beer for D was just what the doctor ordered!!

We found a public footpath to take us back to the town - we would normally walk along the road but decided a footpath would be much better.

And so it was...... you could see the castle from all parts of the path.  We passed signets and swans, we passed cows (with a little hesitation).  We passed many people, some with dogs, and we waved to many little boats enjoying the river.

And after around 30 minutes.... we arrived back where we started.

We had a quick nose round the little town - one shop we always visit is a wonderful second hand book shop - Kims Bookshop you can find all sorts in here. I left D in the transport section while I headed into the craft section. I found nothing I liked so headed into the children's section to look for a book to go along side a quilt I plan to make.  And found these...

I stood for ages reading the spines - so many memories came flooding back.... I always had an Enid Blyton book on the go during the school holidays - Famous Five - think I read all of those, and they were my favourites.

We finished the day with an ice cream and a look round a local art show........ and look what we found....

Did we treat ourselves??  Of course how could we not!!!
