Quilters Regional Day

After a few weeks of non stop 'stuff' and having missed two QQ meetings I decided this week, that enough was enough,  downed my tools for the day and went to my local Quilters Guild Regional Day.

The day is generally made up of a few traders, and two guest speakers,  a raffle - and of course cups of tea and cake!!

First Speaker: Christine Restall.  I would say without a doubt Christine had a very distinctive style which ran throughout all the quilts on display.

Afternoon speaker: Penny Armitage - whereas Penny had produced many quilts - of which no two where the same.  It was interesting to see the two different styles.

Tea and cake was consumed - some thread purchased and two raffle prize's won - (yes I know, two!).  A bag of pink fabric and thread - most useful for the two pink quilts being produced for Christmas gifts! And a wonderful plant.

Creative friends...

Some time ago, H from QQ, introduced me to Bex by Design - a lady that does the most amazing things with glass.

I have a small collection (well if you can call three items a collection), and decided that I would love to 'commission' my own piece of glassware.

I sent photo's of my current 'collection' to Bex for 'this is what I like' ...... I gave her my budget - suggested anything rainbow would be loved, and left the rest to her.  I have never commissioned anything from a local 'crafter' before - and the excitement of having someone design something especially for me was a mixture of - a small child at Christmas and D getting on a RT 1957 bus!!!! (for those who read my blog!).

And this is what Bex designed...

Its just wonderful....I did feel a small tear forming in my eye when she showed me the finished result.  Love it!!!

And a small amount of crafting for me over the last few days... a little quilting and a little crochet....

Now off to chase my toilet roll holder....

BH Building Work: Week Six/Seven

Although work is progressing as it should be....I'm now getting a little apprehensive about being so far away for the final stages.

A couple of things have cropped up on viewing the work completed ... which had I been on site, I think, would have been completed differently.  The disadvantage of not being at the house on a day to day basis is about to hit home.

Living Room skimmed, flooring down...

Bathroom floor tiles part in, bath in......

Small spare room being used as storage so not much happening there.....

En suite boarded, shower tray fitted with plumbing and electrics for shower in.......

Our bedroom ...

Large spare room.....

Some hallway flooring completed.....

Hallway skimmed....

No change in the kitchen......

Time to start taking some half days to meet up with builder, I think.  Large bathrooms being fitted this week to enable tiling to start.

Mini Ta Dah

Mug Mat.....

Started back in August 2011 - FOQ - It was an hour lesson on Mini-Mosaic Tiles by Paula Doyle

To be far - it has been sitting in my cupbaord waiting to be finished - along with everything else!!!

But an hour Sunday evening, and hour last night and half an hour tonight .....

And Ta Dah

Now the actual pattern given on the day - gave you the option of doing six blocks and making a wall hanging - but I've just done the one and put some special wadding in and I'm going to use it for a mug mat!!!  Now where did I put my cup of tea......

Ta Dah: Lily's Quilt

Well I've finished a quilt at long last.  I have to say this one seems to have taken forever - considering its only a small one.

Started back in October 2011 - my goodness - that nearly a whole year - well not to be too hard on myself I have been a little distracted of late!!!!

This is the first of two for my friends daughters - they will be sharing a room - so different designs but the same fabric.
