Star Trails

My first ever star trail.  Only a very quick outing to see what I could get - if anything. I have learnt a little.  I know there are lots of technical issues that I need to address but not bad for my first go!

Canary Wharf

Sunday afternoon/evening stroll around Canary Wharf.

This is the skyline I was after.....how many can you name......I was not aware of all the road works/alterations the area are having - such a mess in front of that incredible view.

So I moved to the left - not such a good view but sky too good to miss!

There are several photographers I following on FB that take amazing pictures of the underground.....odd I know but I love them - so this was my first attempt at kneeling on the floor in the underground station and ignoring the looks I received!!!  If I can overcome my embarrassment of photographing on the underground there may be some more of these!

Project Linus: Motox Quilt

I've had these Motox panels for several years now - sitting on a pile - ready to be made up.  I purchased the panels thinking they would be 'pain free' to make up.  Project Linus are always requesting more male orientated quilts - so I thought it was abut time I made the panels up - and for a very good cause.

So with a quick pattern drawn up - and all materials pressed and the fleece backing found - I made a start. Trimming the centre panel I ensured all opposite sides measured the same.  But when folding the panel in half ( to find my centre point) I discovered there was a massive 'gap' on one side.  I spent a couple of evenings scratching my head as to what knock on effect this would have on the following rows and then on the advise of my fellow quilters - just got on with it!

A simple design of a chequered boarder and squares were added and then just simple quilting - made in no time at all.

Ta Dah...

One down and one to go!

Lavender Christmas Pud

Purchased for my birthday, this little kit was crying out to be made over the festive period.  Although started with a cup of tea and a mince pie before Christmas - time - as always - got the better of me and the backing and stuffing was not completed until the new year!

Simple enough, the kit contained everything I needed.....

I very much enjoyed the stitching - easy and quick with the printed and written pattern for reference....

Love the beads for extra - well - beadiness!  I was extra indulgent and stuffed the whole heart with Lavender.

Sadly though the finished heart has been stored away in the Christmas box before I could get a picture! You'll have to wait for the Ta Dah in my 2015 final post!

Julia Gahagan Workshop: Shadow Quilting

A workshop completed last year with Quilter of Sutton - a great day of new techniques.  Julia Gahagan Workshop.  Great way to use some of my scraps up.  And being that most of my scraps are bright I decided to go with a rainbow theme - covered with a black 'shadow' - very different from the white and cream - light/pastel colours of the class in general - some of which are here and here.

I love the result but have to confess I'm not really sure it works as well as the white/cream shadow work.  And for what ever reason I don't seem to have any photo's of the work in progress, so we will go straight to the Ta Dah....
