Furniture
When adding furniture to the BH, we decided a very low budget was needed to ensure we didn't go into debt. Car boots and charity shops were visited. It was always the intention to 'do them up' but of course time was always an issue - until this year (yay). I have REALLY enjoyed this process and actually none of them took more than a few hours to do.

Gloves for the raffle
Our annual raffle for the camera club is here again. Last year I made two camera bean bags (similar to the one I made myself) - here. This year, fingerless gloves. Hopefully someone will like them enough to pick them up for themselves or as a Christmas gift for someone else.
Very much like the second set .... may have to make another pair!!!

Christmas is coming....
So our annual secret Santa has arrived for our QQ group. an early decision on what to make was easy - just a matter of what colour scheme depending on the recipient!
An advent calendar with a twist....
Soooooo, with cardboard scissors and a massive pot of glue off we go....
Can you see what it is yet...
Ta Dah......
Such fun.......I'm really not sure how robust the whole thing will be, and certainly wouldn't survive a household with little hands but I hope it will last for years to come. I'm off now to collect all the little red beads that pinged themselves across the sewing room as they fell off!

Birthday Gift
So back in 2009, I made these for the girls. Christmas gifts for the sewing room. I made myself one - which is most unusual, and use it a lot. With a birthday coming up, I considered it a nice gift to make for our newest member of the QQ. I always forget that E joined us part way through the journey....I always feel like she has been with us from the start. I wonder if I could 'recycle' any more patterns from the early days....
So with the hardest choice being what fabrics to choose, the making began. I must confess there were several 'pattern changes' during the course of the day which had to be corrected - all part of the fun!!
Pattern taken from Sew, Mama, Sew.....mmmm wonder if that's a franchise of Plate Spinning Mama.....

Fund Raising Gifts
Last months the QoS had a table at the local Wallington fair to sell some our goods to raise money for our small club. We have another in a few days - so here's my contribution to help replenish the stocks.

I'll be interested to see how they sell. What do you think?

Bean Bag: Very Quick Make
So you're off on a photography trip, with two camera and one tripod. What are you to do....make a photography bean bag of course!!! Actually, make a bean bag the night before you go!!
Choose some material... and a piece of ribbon to attach to the camera bag.
Cut the liner and the material to size...
Sew round edges and fill with polystyrene beans.....
Ta Dah.....
As it's a night time photography trip, it could always double up as a pillow!!!

Felt Making
I have a friend, we will call her Helen (because that is her name) who has a friend, we will call her Yvette from Starjump Arts (because once again that is her name!). One friend has flirted with felt - where as the other has embraced the art of felting, with such love and enthusiasm she now teaches it!!
Felting is something I have admired, from a far!! But with the fear of liking it so much (that yet another craft is added to my list of hobbies) I have tried hard to stay away!! But I will admit to purchasing a poppy kit back in 2013 - the stunning box and contents now sits in my cupboard awaiting such time, that time actually allows me to complete it!
So when H said she was going to attend a class, I jumped at the chance - sadly only to find the date already allocated on another activity. So I waited, waited, and waited just a little while longer and eventually a date appeared that was free in my diary - so off I went - map in hand over to Red Door Studios in West Ham.
Arriving a little early (well very early in fact!) I settled in, admiring the surrounding of this very quirky studio.....
I was kindly given a cup of tea and some felting books to admire..... well felt from the raw source .... some sheep books!
And before I knew it - we were off. A class of just two - near enough one to one tuition no less!!! We were shown the first few steps of the felting process and then selected the colours we wanted to use..... it's so hard coming up with something really creative when put on the spot - I really should have thought much harder on the train journey up! And even harder when the sample the teacher is making is outstandingly good!
So, I decided on my usual rainbow theme.....
The felt sample from the other class member.... looking good!
Then it was roll, roll, roll a little more. Turn, roll, roll, roll some more, Turn, roll ...... well you get the picture - there was a LOT of rolling!!
And this master piece from our tutor - tremendous..... I did think, while taking the picture, if she would actually miss this piece of felt should it disappear into my bag by accident.... but I did the next best thing and purchased some materials, so I could make my own version of a sunflower..... watch this space!!
Ta Dah.... with just a little extra embellishment at home..
Off, now to find my diary to pencil in a felting weekend - Poppies and Sunflowers here I come!!
