Cheam Camera Club: Season 4: PDI 3

An evening of two half - an image that I very much enjoyed playing with - my kind of fun but I suspect will not do well at the camera club 25 Ways: Sunflowers and a nature one which I'm pleased with but did take a lot of work to bring it up to a 'standard' worth sharing, Bird without a stick, I know this won't score well as it's not actually in focus.

25 Ways: Sunflowers - an experiment to try and see the same object differently - I was trying to do 50 Ways but clearly I just don't have enough imagination!! I found the whole thing fascinating and I think several of the images included actually have come out better than your general 'face on full' flower option.  I don't, however, think this will score well - but fun value on my part is an 11/10! Score: 9

Bird without a stick - a tongue in cheek title as so many comments from judges are 'well it's just a bird on a stick'. This was taken back in April last year. And although the Kingfisher was very willing to pose and I have clear shots of him on a stick. I'd though I'd try this one. It was under exposed - leaving grain in the image when processed and the kingfisher is not sharp - however - they do move very fast and my wildlife stuff needs much more practice!!  Although not a great picture I'm entering it because it different to my usual images and I'm hoping the judge can give me some feedback (other than its not sharp) so I can improve next time. I am in full preparation for a 6 for this one - I think the judge was far to kind on this one - only comment was it was a little too dark. Score: 8

Generous scoring all round tonight, not just on my images. So, I really need to pull my socks up. I also need to remember that although I entered the Kingfisher because I wanted to show I'm trying all aspects of photography, the judges doesn't actually know my images from Adam, so will never actually know this.  So next time good if the image is not in focus don't enter it!
