Red Eye Reduction
TTL
Fill in Flash
Can be Auto or Forced
Red Eye Reduction
When set - this can reduce the red that sometimes appears in the middle of a subjects eye. It will flash several times before the actual picture is taken. Useful for close up portraits. There is less chance of Red Eye however, when the flash is to the side of the camera as opposed to above (with most DSLR).
Remember: Red eye can also be removed post production using computer software.
TTL - Through The Lens
All DSLR use TTL. The DSLR will automatically calculate how much flash light is needed between the subject and the camera. However, this can be manually tweaked if needed.
Fill in Flash
Where you use the flash to fill in details when shooting towards brightly lit scenes (eg. person in front of window, or in front of sun)
Need to switch on flash on - not automatic
Note: TTL Auto and Fill in Flash are much the same
Note: Increasing your ISO will increase the amount of flash light
