July 2011: Project Linus 2011


Project Linus month.  Meet at BH with other QQ to produce as many quilts as we can for Project Linus. http://projectlinusuk.org.uk/- theme this year was transport. Simple blocks for quickness - with fleece backing. 

    

Managed also to complete one started last year - theme was Seaside in 2010.  Happy to hand over two completed quilts this year.  One quilt in 2010 so will try for three in 2012!




July 2011: Cushions

Rainbow Cushion for BH - needed to start using some scraps - have boxes full - decided on english patchwork - using paper templates - loved doing this cushion both for the actual patchwork technique and the colours.




Cushion for BH - found this fabric and could not walk past - £2 (!!) Made giant cushion for beach house - bit of a problem with zip but got there in the end!

June 2011: Helen Deighan Course - 1 hour course - Sandown

Sandown is my local Quilt Show and have been going for a few years now.  I always try and do an hour course if there is one I fancy.  This year all the QQ did the same - sorry Ms Deighan!!

Felt Pot - 1 Hour Course at Sandown June 2011 - finished that evening.  Would do again but with material and not felt.

May 2011:  Crochet Bag

My new skill to learn for 2011 was Crochet - something I started when I was a teenager and never really got on with.  Took an hour course at Alexandra Palace last year - and again didn't really get on but (not sure why - perhaps the discovery of attic24 blog - http://www.attic24.typepad.com/) wanted to try a bit more.  Took a four week course in Cheam at a local wool shop and tah-dah!!  My very first crochet project.  And hopefully many more!

April 2011: English Patchwork

Started in Patchwork Classes (I think 2007/8) - using paper templates - Hand sew together in 2010 while having Double Glazing fitted at BH.  Hand quilted 2011.  I get there in the end!!  One of my fave quilts I have made and most certainly one of my fave techniques.

Febuary 2011: Morse Bag

Febuary 2011: 70th Birthday Quilt. 

I made this double bed quilt for my Mother in-law in February 2011 and presented it to her for her 70th Birthday.  It took 6 months (on and off) to make.  Machine pieced and machine quilted - using free motion - first use of free motion feather deisign in boarders.
